A Report on the Orientation (Importance of Income Tax to the Society) Dt. 08/12/2022.


On Thursday, 8 December 2022, we organised an orientation programme about the ‘Importance of Income Tax to the Society’ in our school. The school cordially invited the Orienters Sri. D. Panduranga, the Jurisdictional Assessing Officer at the Income Tax Office, Mr. Venkataramana and Mr. Pankaj Kumar the Inspectors of Income Tax. 

Sri. D. Panduranga enlightened our students about the facts of Income Tax in his speech. He covered many aspects of Tax such as sources for income tax, logo of income tax, types of taxes etc. He discussed the major concerning aspect i.e. the need for paying the income tax as it is one of the major sources of income for the government which is thereafter used to fund public services, payment of government obligations and provide goods and services to the citizens. 

He guided about the computations of the Income tax based on salaries, income from house property, profits and gains of business or profession, capital gains and the income from other sources. He also explicated the prominent feature of having the PAN card.

 Mr. Panduranga revealed the theory of Chanakya – ‘Treasury is the root of administration’ which details the importance of tax and also its incorporation in the Income Tax Logo. He took the pride of telling the tax collected for the fiscal year 2021-2022 that is nearly 14 lakh crores out of 7% of India’s population and Ballari alone had contributed 600 – 700 crores of Income Tax. He advised our students to be honest in paying tax for the progress of the country in future and extolled all the tax payers as the ‘Dignified Citizens’.

We thank the orienters Sri. D. Panduranga, and the supporting staff Mr. Venkataramana and Mr. Pankaj Kumar for enriching our students’ knowledge with the most important aspect of administration.
