Science is inexplicably linked with our lives and helps us to understand the world around us better. The Central Board of Secondary Education has been initiating in many ways to generate curiosity and develop scientific attitude amongst learners. Such initiations encourage learners to create, innovate and also to become more responsible in promoting science and technology. One such initiative of the CBSE is the Science Exhibition at various levels in the country.

In this regard, the students of class 9 of our Dream World School, Ballarihad participated in the CBSE Regional Level Science Exhibition 2022-2023 organised at Tejas International Residential School, Bagalkote on 1 December, 2022 and 2 December,2022. The main purpose of this event was to showcase the innovative models made by students, based on scientific principles which would reveal their scientific temperament.

Abouthundred plus schools had participatedin the ‘Science Exhibition’ from variousregions of Karnataka. The judges who were specialised in the respective subject areas had inspected and evaluated each and every model with great patience. They enquired about the working methods of each model and asked several questions regarding their models to know the benefits of the model and the worth of the budding scientists. They listened to the explanationpresented by the participants keenly. In the first half of the first day, all teams had arranged and set their exhibits according to their sub-themes.In the second half of the day, our students explained about their models to the judges concerned.

The Director of the institution Ms Madhuri Mudhol interacted with the participants and admired the reasoning power and scientific outlook of the knowledgeable students. Sachin Batra, the principal of the school appreciated the joint efforts of the students and their mentors. He thanked everyone for being a part of such a prestigious event.

The visitors, participants along with their teachers and judges were greatly impressed to observe various models displayed there by the young scientists.

On the same day resultsof the first roundwere announced. We felt very happy to know that our school model made by boys’ team was selected for the second round.

On the second day,the panel of judgesonce again reviewedand scrutinisedour school’s model along with some other models. Though our boys presented very well and the model was so worthy, due to great competition, we had missed the golden opportunity to participate in the National Level Science Exhibition just in few points (marks). We would like to work hard in the coming years and improve our exhibits in order to meet the goals set by the CBSE in a challenging manner.
