A REPORT ON NATIONAL MATHEMATICS DAY CELEBRATION - 2022-2023

 Venue: Dream World School.                                                                                              2022–2023

"An equation for me has no meaning unless it expresses a thought of God," remarked Srinivasa Ramanujan Iyengar, the great Indian genius mathematician.

The Department of Mathematics celebrated National Mathematics Day to commemorate Shri Srinivasa Ramanujan’s 136th birth anniversary in our school on Thursday, December 22, 2022, from 3:15 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. as a tribute to the internationally renowned mathematician to get inspiration from his accomplishments and significant contributions to the field of mathematics. Though Srinivasa Ramanujan had almost no formal training in pure mathematics, he made substantial contributions to mathematical analysis, number theory, infinite series, and continued fractions, including solutions to mathematical problems then considered unsolvable.

On the day of celebration, some talented students from classes 3 to 10 took part in a variety of activities and events, such as dances, skits, role plays, and talks on topics Ramanujan's Life, the Abel Prize, the Rubik's Cube puzzle, and tips from Bharathiya Ganita. The VAG Army student secretaries Sreehitha and Samkit Botra, and Prasthan Head Prahas compered the programme.

A wonderful dance on Ramanujan's life was performed by Aarvi and a group of children from classes 3, 5, and 9 to begin the programme. Then Param Tejas of class 4 delivered an eloquent speech with a PPT to elucidate Ramanujan's schooling and impressive abilities.

Class 9 students Harrshit Choudhary, Medha, Pavani, and Amulya Nandini performed a skit to highlight the significance of zero. The class 9 dancing team led by Nithin Reddy impressed the audience with their performance.

Many enthusiasts stunned the crowd by completing the Rubik's Cube problem in under a minute. At their performance, the audience erupted into ecstatic applause. Later, Param Tejas of class 4, Hrushikesh of class 6 and Samkith Bothra of class 9 amazed the audience with their brilliance by telling the day for a specific date immediately without glancing at the calendar.

Acyutananda, Ibha and Shreya effectively played Bhaskaracharya, an ancient Indian mathematician in roles. Sri Vidya's performance as Shakuntala Devi was amazing. Kruthi and Vrushti of class 8 talked about the Abel Prize which is given to efficient mathematicians, appealingly. Yashwanth Swamy, a student of class 8 introduced the gathering about the Kaprekar Constant. Thereafter, Utkarsh and his team from classes 7, 8, and 9 performed a joyful and motivational skit.

Vimudha, Gouthami, and Priyal of class 10 spontaneously gave the cube roots for the perfect cubes of six-digit numbers asked by the audience, which was difficult for a normal student. Param Tejas of class 4, Sreehitha V, Daiwik Naga Sai, and Venkata Goutham of class 9, and Yugandari, Bharathi, Akhil J. and Jeevan of class 10 explained the tips for quick calculations that mesmerised the audience.

The presentations by all the little mathematicians are worth watching.

The students of classes 6 to 10, teaching staff, coordinators, the principal, and the chief of the institution joined the celebration in the quadrangle and witnessed all the eye-feasting events.

The events not only entertained the students but also boosted their confidence, raised their interest levels, and led them to realise the significance of mathematics. This programme would certainly inculcate and promote the positive attitude needed to develop passion for mathematics among the present generation.

The magnificent support from the chief, Mr. K. Anil Babu, the principal, Ms. Parimala C. M., the coordinators, and Mr. Yerri Swamy G., the Audio-Video technician, was really appreciable.

In the success of the National Mathematics Day Celebration, the efforts put by all mathematics teachers of the school are admirable.
