A Report on Centre Festival 2: Ganesh Festival
Classes: I to IV 15th September 2023
Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the main Hindu festivals. It celebrates the birth of Ganesh, the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. He is considered to be the favourite God of children across the country. His appearance is unique as he has an elephant’s head and a pot belly which is a sign of prosperity. Ganesh is known as Ganapati or the Lord of people and thus he is the most lovable to everyone. The 10-day festival ends with the idols taken for Visarjan through elaborate immersion processions.
The Foundation Centre II celebrates Ganesh Chaturthi every year to acknowledge the students with the stories related to Ganesh and his importance. This year we celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi with the theme Miracles Of Ganesha on Friday, 15th September 2023 with great pomp and joy in the school quadrangle.
The stage for performance was decorated grandly with the colourful cut-outs of Ganesh on the screen with beautiful chain of garlands.
We welcomed Lord Ganesh with a procession dance by the students. The clay idol of Ganesh made by the fine arts teacher was placed at the venue and puja was offered to the idol followed by lighting the lamp in the praise of Lord Ganesh.
The program was highlighted by the power-point presentation with video-clippings, different skits and dances performed by the students emphasising the stories based on the sub-themes like The Birth of Ganesha, The Destruction of Ravana’s Ego, Story of Thalasura, Destruction of Kubera’s Ego. These performances were entertaining and also gave a message to the students that sincere worship of Ganesh bestows them with good knowledge and prosperity. The programme was concluded with a dance performance by the teachers.
This Centre Festival was a successful one in acknowledging the students with the information about Lord Ganesh. It was also a platform for the students to exhibit their skills of communication by taking part in various activities enthusiastically to build confidence in them and to overcome stage fear..
