“CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY 2026-27”

Event/Activity Name

Yoga is an invaluable part of India's rich cultural heritage. It is both an art and a science of healthy living. Essentially, yoga is a spiritual discipline based on a subtle science that focuses on creating harmony between the mind and body, thought and action, restraint and fulfilment and human beings and nature. It offers a holistic approach to health and well-being. Through various postures, breathing exercises, mantras and meditation, yoga enhances positive thinking, improves mental well-being, and develops self-discipline. It helps individuals become more energetic, confident, happy and effective in their daily lives.

This year, the theme of International Yoga Day was "Yoga for Healthy Ageing," as announced by the Ministry of AYUSH. The theme emphasises the role of yoga in promoting active, self-reliant, and mentally empowered living throughout the ageing process.

To create awareness about the benefits of yoga among students and to celebrate International Yoga Day, the school organized a Yoga Training Programme on the school campus on 18th and 19th June 2026. The training sessions were conducted by yoga instructor Mr. Krishna Reddy for the students of Classes VI to IX. The programme included Pranayama techniques such as Bhramari Pranayama and Kapalbhati Pranayama, yoga asanas such as Tadasana, Trikonasana, Garudasana and Pavanamuktasana as well as the comprehensive practice of Surya Namaskara.

The 12th International Day of Yoga was celebrated with great enthusiasm and dedication on 21 June 2026 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. A total of 280 students from all four houses actively participated in the yoga session. The event inspired and motivated students and staff members to embrace yoga as a way of life and spread awareness about its numerous benefits. It also encouraged participants to practise yoga regularly for a healthier, happier and more productive future.
