"A book is a dream that you hold in your hands." – Neil Gaiman
Books are the gateway to knowledge, imagination, and lifelong learning. Reading is one of the most valuable habits a child can develop, as it broadens the mind, enriches vocabulary, enhances creativity, and strengthens communication skills. It encourages curiosity, improves concentration, nurtures empathy, and enables readers to discover new ideas, cultures, and perspectives. Books inspire young minds to think independently, solve problems creatively, and become confident learners.
A book exhibition is much more than a display of books; it is an opportunity to ignite a love for reading among students. It provides children with access to a wide variety of books across different genres, introduces them to renowned authors and illustrators, and helps them discover their interests. Such exhibitions create an engaging reading environment that motivates students to develop a lifelong reading habit and appreciate the joy of learning through books.
With this vision, Dream World School, under the Saga 7 Wing, organised a Book Exhibition on Thursday, 25 June 2026, at 11:15 a.m. The programme commenced with a melodious prayer song presented by the students, followed by the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp by our esteemed Guest, Shri Dr. K. Sudhakar Rao, our Chief Shri K. Anil Babu and the Principal, Smt. Parimala C. M. The exhibition showcased a rich collection of fiction, non-fiction, reference books, children's literature, science, history, biographies, and activity books, inspiring students to explore the wonderful world of reading.
The Guest:
Dr. K. Sudhakar Rao (born 1 July 1960 in Adoni, Andhra Pradesh) is a distinguished scholar, author, journalist, and retired Indian Information Service (IIS) officer. During his illustrious career spanning over three decades, he served in various capacities with Sainik Samachar, the Field Publicity Organisation, All India Radio, Doordarshan, and the Press Information Bureau. A Gold Medalist in M.A. (Telugu), First Rank holder in M.A. (Sanskrit), and Ph.D. in Sanskrit, he is proficient in English, Telugu, Sanskrit, Hindi, Kannada, and Marathi. Dr. K. Sudhakar Rao has authored more than 110 books in Telugu, Sanskrit, Hindi, English, and Kannada on literature, philosophy, spirituality, history, and culture. A Reiki Grand Master, he has also published numerous research papers and poems and has received several prestigious literary and cultural awards in recognition of his outstanding contributions to journalism, literature, Sanskrit studies, and Indian culture.
Dr. K. Sudhakar Rao commenced his speech by emphasising the value of reading books, addressing the future aspiring students—many of whom will go on to become engineers and doctors—the author outlined three essential cosmic powers (Shaktis) required to achieve true success in any chosen field:
Iccha Shakti (The Power of Desire): Students must cultivate a powerful, focused intention to excel in their studies and gain knowledge. Without this strong inner drive, they risk being carried away by modern temptations.
Jnana Shakti (The Power of Knowledge): True intellectual growth extends beyond scoring marks in textbooks. The author urged students to expand their horizons by reading general books, science, and grammar to enhance their understanding and communication skills.
Kriya Shakti (The Power of Action): Translating desire and knowledge into structured execution through consistent daily efforts and disciplined living.
The author delivered a vital cautionary message regarding technology, emphasising that smartphones should be used strictly as tools for communication and learning, reminding students of the importance of protecting all physical limbs and well-being to ensure a long, healthy life.
The author emphasised that overcoming exam anxiety and achieving academic excellence requires a balanced approach to student wellness. He encouraged students to eat healthy, practice yoga, to do regular exercise and develop good reading habits to strengthen their physical and mental well-being, improve concentration, and enhance memory. He adviced about the greatest form of devotion is to love, respect and care for books.
He left the students with a final piece of advice: to treat books as a precious, irreplaceable treasure (Nidhi), to handle borrowed books with utmost care, and to lead a peaceful, disciplined life rooted in the rich tapestry of Indian culture—irrespective of religion, caste, or mother tongue.
