चक्षुरुन्मीलितं येन तस्मै श्री गुरवे नमः॥
‘Guru Poornima’ is a sacred festival celebrated in India as a heartfelt tribute to the Guru, the spiritual guide who leads seekers from ignorance towards the light of knowledge and wisdom. The word “Guru” represents one who removes the darkness of ignorance and awakens the disciple to the path of truth, self-realization, and divine knowledge. On Guru Purnima, disciples express their gratitude and devotion by offering special prayers and worship to their Gurus, acknowledging their role in guiding them towards the Divine.
‘Guru Poornima’ was celebrated in the school on Wednesday, 29 July 2026 to show our gratitude by offering prayers and bhajans to our beloved Guru Sri Paramahansa Yogananda with great pleasure. The celebration was initiated at 09:30 a.m. by chanting ‘Aum’ thrice followed by Gayatri Mantra. The Chief of the institution Mr. K. Anil Babu, our spiritual teacher Ms. Kamakshi, the VAG Army Secretaries were invited to light the ceremonial lamp, the symbol of knowledge.
The tributes began by chanting sloka Asatoma, Ajam Nirvikalpam followed by the bhajans Guruvina Gulamanaguva Thanaka…., Moreyare…., Devi Sureshwari Bhagavathi…., Inastu Bekenna Hrudayakke Rama…., Harimana Tumi…, Shri Ramachandra Krupalu…etc. that highlighted the importance of ‘Guru’ and his ‘Divinity’ as well. The students of classes VIII to X sang bhajans rhythmically and sincerely to honour and worship Guru – Sri Paramahansa Yogananda.
Intellectuals say, “Deep se Deep Jalaao – Gyan se Gyan Badhavo.” Therefore, on this auspicious occasion of ‘Guru Poornima’, some students presented the teachings preached by our beloved great Guru Sri Paramhansa Yogananda very eloquently. These knowledgeable views of our Guru were taken from his books, ‘Developing Dynamic Will’ which tells about the power of inner determination and the cultivation of a strong, focused will to overcome challenges and achieve higher goals and ‘Yashasina Hadiyalli’, which inspires readers to develop confidence, overcome obstacles, and move forward with clear goals and perseverance. Hence, everyone practised meditation for a period of 5 minutes during the celebration.
The celebration was ended by offering ‘Aarti’ and the ‘Pranaam’ to ‘Guru’. The programme was concluded at about 10:30 a.m.
One should understand that true happiness in life can be achieved through meditation, unwavering faith in the Guru, following the Guru’s guidance, and receiving the divine blessings of Sri Paramahansa Yogananda.
