A Report on Centre Festival 2: Ganesh Festival

Classes: I to IV                                                                                                                                 Date: 29th August 2022

Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the main Hindu festivals. It celebrates the birth of Ganesh, the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. He is considered to be the favourite God of children across the country. His appearance is unique as he has an elephant’s head and a pot belly which is a sign of prosperity. Ganesh is known as Ganapati or the Lord of people and thus he is the most lovable to everyone.

The Foundation Centre II celebrates Ganesh Chaturthi every year to acknowledge the students with the stories related to Ganesh and his importance. This year we celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi with the theme Bal Ganesh Ki Jai on Monday, 29th August 2022 with great pomp and joy in the school shed.

The stage for performance was decorated grandly with the colourful cut-outs of Ganesh on the screen with beautiful chain of garlands.

We welcomed Lord Ganesha with a procession dance by the students with drums and lezims. The clay idol of Ganesh made by the fine arts teacher was placed at the venue and puja was offered to the idol followed by lighting the lamp in the praise of Lord Ganesh.

The program was highlighted by the theme of Dholakpur with the different cartoon characters like Chota Bheem, Motu-Patlu, Chutki, Cindrella and Titu. The skits and dances performed by the students emphasized the stories behind Maghi Ganesha (Ganesha’s birth), four attributes of Ganesh, intellectuality/knowledge of Ganesh and Mushika vahana. These performances were very entertaining and also gave a message to the students that sincere worship of Ganesh bestows them with good knowledge and prosperity. The wonderful dance performance of the teachers was concluded with lots of love. The program also comprised power-point presentation with video-clippings.

This Centre Festival was a successful one in acknowledging the students with the information about Lord Ganesh. It was also a platform for the students to exhibit their skills of communication by taking part in various activities enthusiastically to build confidence in them and to overcome stage fear.
